SENIORSGlenea United 2 Cappry Rovers 0Cappry Rovers suffered another defeat on the road again to a gritty Glenea team at a wind swept Glasserchoo on Sunday. Due to a certain GAA game Cappry were seriously depleted and had a very limited amount of players to call on. With this in mind they give a great account of themselves in tough conditions. Cappry started the game with the aid of the wind and put the home side under some early pressure with Benny McLaughlin a constant threat. As the half went on Glenea battled their way back into the game and created some good goal scoring opportunities but failed to take them. With half time approaching Dean McCarry played a good ball up the right wing to Ryan McFadden who did some good work to pull the ball back at the by line where he found Michael Barry at the back post and he slotted into the bottom corner giving Jamie Bell no chance. Both sides created numerous chances in the second half with Maurice Lafferty coming closest for Cappry. Glenea got their second with fifteen minutes remaining when a Darren McGeever shot from thirty yards rattled the crossbar with the rebound falling to Ryan McFadden who dispatched into the corner. Best for Glenea were Anthony McCafferty, Kevin Mulhern and Pudgy McGee. Best for Cappry were Benny McLaughlin and Maurice Lafferty. Jamie Bell (16) has to get a special mention also as he made his senior debut and coped very well with the step up to the senior set up. Referee: Marty Quinn.Cappry have a free weekend next week.
